Associate Director for International Admission
Continue a longstanding tradition of recruiting and enrolling international students at a nationally ranked liberal arts college. Beloit College invites applications for associate director for international admission.
The individual in this role leads international recruitment and admissions for Beloit College, where the student body is 20% international. Responsibilities include developing, executing, and evaluating an outreach and recruitment strategy for international students; serving as the primary international recruiter representing Beloit College to a variety of constituencies; taking a highly relational approach to educating students, parents, and influencers about Beloit College and guiding students through the application process; reviewing applications from international students and training the rest of the staff in doing so; assisting with and leading events and special initiatives; engaging college staff and faculty in the recruitment process; and serving as a Designated School Official (DSO), maintaining the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and all related certification requirements. Candidates will be responsible for prospect management, individual and group travel, and meeting recruitment goals in a defined geographic area.
The successful candidate will be energized by interacting with a wide variety of people; demonstrate ample independent initiative and also delight in being part of a team; be creative, organized, open-minded, ethical, and a kind and generous colleague; possess outstanding communication skills; and excel at getting things done. A love of learning and the ability to embrace change and ambiguity with grace and humor are distinct plusses.
Candidates must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, be available for extensive individual and group international travel. While five to eight years of experience in selective college admission is ideal, we recognize the range of backgrounds and transferable skills that could lead to success in this role and welcome candidates from outside of the admission field who can make a case for their preparation and aptitude for the role. Candidates with more or less than the specified level of experience may be considered for the role at a director or an assistant director level. A bachelor’s degree, driver’s license, U.S. passport, and international experience are required. Demonstrated success in recruiting and an understanding of a liberal arts environment are strongly desired.
