Discovering a Career in Sustainability

Three alums shared their stories of applying Beloit College education to their sustainability professions.

On April 24 2020, the Career and Community Engagement Center hosted a virtual panel on sustainability. This panel featured three successful Beloiters, who have made it with a career in environmental practices. They are:

  1. Aaron Wilson’99, Program Director for the Welty Environmental Center
  2. Amy (Delbecq) Riegel’14, working with the City of Plymouth, Minnesota on protecting water quality through stormwater management and permitting
  3. Brenda Plakans’14, Executive Director for the Welty Environmental Center

The alumni talked about how they landed their first job after college, what experiences helped fuel their passion and the importance of failures in a job search process. The conversation was informative and provided a dynamic dialogue between alumni, students and faculty.
