Excavating an Archaeological Field Site in New Mexico

Alex Cullison ’20, was admitted into an Research Experience for Undergraduates Program at the Preservation Archaeology Field School in Gila, New Mexico.

During his time at the Preservation Archaeology Field School, he worked on a research team with other undergraduates to document and excavate a field unit at the Gila River Valley Farm Site. He also went on expeditions and gained experience with archaeological survey and experimental archaeology methods. Lastly, he presented to community members about the field site and his research as well as archaeological concepts in general.
