Like little Matthew we have all been “charred beyond recognition” by sin. We are just a shadow of our former glory. From the hand of our Creator we were beautiful and innocent. Now it’s a wonder He’s able to even look at us, sin has made us so ugly.
Jamie reminds me of Jesus. He doesn’t let our sinfulness bother Him; He stays with us, encouraging us, healing our sin-wounds, changing our bandages. Now we can go see the Heavenly Father without fear and embarrassment. Jesus will advocate for us. Jesus will stand by us, all the way to glory. Praise His name!
