A long-time resident of Janesville, Wisconsin, David Heesen, bass, has been directing church choirs, playing the organ, and singing with the Beloit Masterwork Chorus for many years. He also sings with the Janesville Choral Union. In December 2000 he appeared with the Choral Union in a performance of Bach's EIN FESTE BURG and other works. In July 2000 he appeared as the Turtle in the Spotlight on Kids production of ALICE IN WONDERLAND. In April 2000 he appeared in a solo quartet in a BJSO performance of Mozart's REQUIEM. In December 1999 he sang the bass solos in Handel's MESSIAH. In May 1999 he appeared in Bach's EIN FESTE BURG, performed by two combined high school choirs. In early 1999 he sang in a special program for the MacDowell Club in Janesville, Wisc., entitled CRAWFORD GATES AND HIS MUSIC. In 1998 he sang the bass solos in the Janesville Walk-In Messiah and the bass/baritone solos in Vaughn Williams' SERENADE TO MUSIC. In 1996 he sang the bass solos in four performances of Handel's MESSIAH, including the Janesville Walk-In Messiah. In 1995 he sang the bass solos in the Beloit Janesville Symphony Orchestra performances of the Verdi REQUIEM. Since 1993 he has been a permanent fixture in Beloit College's twice annual EVENING ON BROADWAY night. In 1993 he was a principal in the U-Rock Players/Spotlight on Kids THE WIZARD OF OZ. In 1990 he was a principal in the Beloit College production of H.M.S. PINAFORE. He is a voice student of Eudora Shepherd of Beloit.
