PHARMACY SCHOOL ADVICE

2008 - I recently spoke with my cousin, who is a pharmicist. His brother was a distinguished pharmacy researcher at Harvard Medical School, and they were both close to the Dean of Boston College School of Pharmacy who shared these insights:

1. If you have a 3.5 GPA, getting into pharmacy school after college is easy, any place will take you.

2. There is a National Board Exam you take after finishing Pharmacy School that qualifies you to practice anywhere in the US. However, whenever you choose to work in a state, you have to study for and take a Law Exam for that particular state, though it is not that hard to pass this.

3. For good summer experience to increase your chance of admission, hospital pharmacy work, or research at a teaching hospital like UW-Madison where you have connection with the pharmacy would be helpful.
