Old information with changes:
200. Discrete Mathematics Combinatorics and Graph Theory (1).
Combinatorial counting principles, generating functions and recurrence
relations,
introduction to graph
theory, graph-theoretic algorithms and their implementation. Applications
to operations research, computer science, and social science. Offered
each spring even years, fall semester. Prerequisite:
Mathematics 115; Computer Science 111 or equivalent Mathematics
110.
Rationale for change:
We are shifting the semester that the course is offered to support Computer Science courses that need this course as a corequisite. The prerequisite is changed from Mathematics 115 to 110 to support changes in the Computer Science curriculum and to better reflect the material covered in the course. The prerequisite of Computer Science 111 is being eliminated to better reflect the needed background. The name was changed to cause less confusion with the new Math 160 course and to better reflect the material in the course.
